Jeff Brushie. Air to fakie on his trout base Burton Snowboards pro model in 1992.
This is probably one of my most recognized snowboard photos; Jeff Brushie at the Camp of Champions halfpipe on the Horstman Glacier, Blackcomb Mountain, Whistler, BC, in 1992. This board is so legendary now that it’s hard to understate how collectible and coveted it is. This summer saw an unspoken competitive battle between Brushie, Haakon, and Boyer. Each matching run for run, one-upping each other and as a result pushing snowboarding forward and raising the importance of style and power.
This image has appeared in Snowboarder Magazine, Alex Dymond’s classic monograph “Snow Beach”, New York Times Style Magazine, GQ Magazine and all over the internets.
