The thing that photography does better than anything is stop time. For a fraction of a second, everything is frozen and we see a moment, sometimes a mundane scene, for something more than the sum of its parts. I remember in photos. My actual memory is crappy, so i rely on the photos to create my remembered reality. A glance up an alley that would be quickly forgotten turns into a moment that is saved forever. And with it is saved the texture and beauty of everything around us.
