Alex Warburton. Frontside on the Blackcomb quarterpipe.
Alex Warburton walked pretty tall around Whistler Village in the late 80s and early 90s. It was the swagger of being known as the best guy on the mountain. Although his raw power hadn’t ever been captured in the many snowboard films he had been in, anyone who had ridden with him immediately knew that he was a step above the rest. By the time he found himself on Morrow Snowboards in 1994, his status as one of the greats was cemented. On this day on the Blackcomb quarterpipe, he channeled his inner skater with a frontside shifty, making a now iconic image.
